We enjoyed our stay here. The owners are friendly and you get a variety of tasks to complete. There are daily responsibilities and some long-term projects and quick tasks to complete. We did weeding, pruning the olive trees and looking after the chicken. Every day is a bit different and the surroundings are amazing. We did a couple of hikes. There is an old bike you can use to go to the supermarket. However it is quite steep to come back from Lidl/Mercadona. There is a small shop in town which is closer by. The rooms have very comfortable beds and relaxing at the pool after work is the best. So it does feel like a (working)holiday. The kitchen is stocked with good pans and pots and if you are lucky there is some of their own olive oil.

I spent two wonderful weeks at La Casa de Ella. I got to learn a lot about different plants, planting and general work in the garden. In my short stay I got to try many different tasks while enjoying the peacefulness and bird songs in the garden. The view of the surrounding mountains, the canal and the Ebro that is close by where very beautiful. Ella showed us many beautiful nearby towns and locations and also made the most delicious meals and desserts. Thank you very much Ella, I am looking forward to see the future of your project and your beautiful home.

I spent two weeks on Roger’s farm and it was truly a unique experience. The finca is situated in a beautiful valley with a river running through, occupied by fruit trees and a wonderful community of neighbors, many of which I met when I was there! The pace here is slower and it can be difficult to adapt to, but once I settled in I found the work and lifestyle both calming and healing. The food is excellent and completely ecological, every day we vegetables that were harvested moments before cooking. I truly feel like the two weeks I spent there was the healthiest I’ve felt in perhaps my entire life. Roger is an older man with infinite stories to tell. If you happen to be a writer, PLEASE come and write a book set in this valley because the lifestyle and history of the area is truly rich and infinitely fascinating. The accommodation is a very comfortable mobile home surrounded by grapefruit and avocado trees. Roger is a great man who will ensure that you are comfortable during your time here. Even though I was alone for much of the time I was there, and if you’re looking for a larger group this is probably not the place, Roger made every effort to make sure that I was satisfied with the parameters of work and accommodation. If you’re looking for a peaceful farm in which you will learn a lot about both organic agriculture and yourself, I highly recommend!

My stay with Ella was a very special experience. It was wonderful to see the beautiful house that her family renovated. During my stay, there were always flowers blooming around the property, and we could pick fresh fruit from the edible garden. Through the farm work, I learned the importance of caring for plants and treating nature with respect. Ella is a loving and creative person. She is also a great cook, and I enjoyed many delicious Jewish meals. Sharing food with her family introduced me to a different culture and felt like stepping into another world. There is also a beautiful river near the farm, and the surrounding nature is peaceful and inspiring. I am very grateful to have joined her project, and I hope to see Ella and her family again someday.

I loved my stay in Otoruelos! It was a marvelous experience, and I will always remember the runs with the dogs in the morning, making the quickest and yummiest tiramisu with Santiago, the trips to Soria, Vinuesa, and Salduero, and all the magical sites in nature such as the stream, the church, and the reservoir. I learned something new every day, whether that was about Spanish culture, the Castile and Leon region, eco-friendly agricultural methods, or new Spanish words. Santiago is truly a caring and wonderful host, with a huge heart.
