I'm Jose, a 47 years young Canarian guy who lives in an old self rebuilt stone house in a farm located in a quiet valley in Fuerteventura Island.
I have fotovoltaic system unplugged from public energy, so electricity is available but with responsable use. Internet with WIFI. Sun provides hot water.
Accomodation and organic vegetables from the farm are provided. You will sleep in a little apart room with your own kitchen (no fridge).... The water installations are still on work....there is a compost toilet, but shower has to be done in my house....
The farm is located in the middle of the island. Nearby are beautiful and inviting landscapes for hiking/running. The farm is 20-25 minutes walking away from the busstop, so you can go explore the island in the afternoons or your free days (saturday and sundays). The closest beach (no waves to surf in it) is 15 minutes by bus to reach. I live far away from surfing places and nightlife.
I am interested in serious and independent wwoofers who like to work in physical tasks....mostly with vegetable garden but also planting new trees or some construction tasks......
Please notice this is an professional horticultural farm with no machines and body work is needed.....but here are works for all commited persons.....
I am asking for 5 hours 5 days a week (from monday to friday).
I need to work to produce organic veggies to sell in a market and to primary schools. So it cant be that is produced less with wwofing people in the farm then when I work alone... I untherstand you wanna learn/speak about lots of things....I´ll explain all what is related to the work that has to be done, but we cannot "chat" during working time....we can meet after working for a beer or walk or whatever and speak....in both directions....
Organic methods: I work with biodversity for pests control, low inputs, alive soil (organic matter and soil management)
In this world....in wich everyone wants his own names, definition, protagonism...mine is...."Low Maintenance Intensive Farming"...LMIF (registered ;-)))
