Small family (Roger, Julian 18 and Maya 14 años in holiday times, weekends: ) on mini fruit-farm (finca) of 1.3 hectares (3 acres). It has veg.garden and terraced fruit and olive orchards on a sunny slope in the beautiful secluded Rio Grande valley, facing Sierra de las Nieves National Park and Biosphere Area. It is some 20 minutes walk to main road: renovation of the finca started in 2004 and it is Certified Ecological for some years. .. We have oranges on irrigated land, with some 30 other types of fruit and nuts, including vines, olives, avocado, chirimoya, fig, kiwi, pomegranate, pecan, etc. While with us you may be tending fruit trees, improving the veg. garden, harvesting crops and processing them (olive oil, wine-making, juices, jams, dried fruit and veg., dried herbs and teas), and maintaining the spectacular Moorish acequia (aqueduct). Solar-heated domestic water: occasional small building and alternative energy projects. Five days normal working, plus 2 hours shared cleaning on Saturday mornings (or other day by agreement). Climate: These foothills enjoy an excellent sheltered climate, not too cold in winter nor humid in summer. Local culture: we are between two classic white hill-villages that retain their Spanish traditions, fiestas and facilities, one with natural medicinal waters, (spring to autumn), some 4 and 5 km distant, more or less an hour's walk. Neighbours: in the valley is a cluster of ecological farms (often with wwoofers), and traditional ones, so it's easy to compare notes and meet neighbours. Diversions: great bathing in our irrigation pool, and river: bike available by arrangement, endless scenic mountain trails, wildife and birdwatching. Other activities and interests: hiking, rooftop space for yoga & meditation. We especially like to receive individuals or couples with experience; or with a real wish to help with and and learn about healthy lifestyle and farming methods. [ We also seek long-term, (or permanent!) help with finca, family and household, as a distinct option]. English is often spoken, but we do all speak Spanish, and are happy to respond in Spanish. Minimum stay normally 3 weeks, maximum 12 weeks: (Non-smokers only, please)! Wwoof accommodation is a good mobile home near the main house, with electricity and water.. Limited Internet access available, better to bring your own SIM-card. Pequeña familia (Roger, y Julian 17 y Maya 13 años, durante vacaciones y findes:), en una granja pequeñita de frutales, de 1.3 hectareas . Tiene huerto y huertas de frutales y olivos en bancales, situada en una cuesta soleada en el valle hermoso del Rio Grande, frente al Parque National Sierra de las Nieves, a unos 20 minutos andando al carretera: entre dos pueblos blancos tradicionales, mas o menos una hora de distancia andando. Certificado Ecologica desde unos años. Empezamos otro fase de desarrollo, con mas diversidad de productos: y con amigos y vecinos involucrados, ayudamos a arrancar una nueva cooperativa en la zona. Tenemos naranjos en el parte de regadío, y casi 30 variedades más de frutas y frutos secos, incluso uvas, aceitunas, aguacate, chirimoya, higos, kiwi, pacanos, granados, etc. Necesitamos tu ayuda para el cuidado de los frutales y nuestro huerto, cosechando y tratando productos (elaboramos vino, aceite, zumos, mermeladas, frutas y verduras y infusiones secadas al sol), y mantenemiento de la acequia espectacular - 'El Moro'. Agua sanitario calentado por el sol: a veces hay pequeños proyectos de construcción o de energía renovable. Parejas o sol@s con experiencia o ganas de ayudar y aprender especialmente bienvenidos! (y aparte, estoy buscando ayuda de forma mas o menos permanente en finca/hogar). 5 dias trabajo normal, 2 horas de limpieza de partes compartidas sabado por la mañana (o otra dia según acuerdo). Estancia minima normalmente 3 semanas, máxima 12 semanas.(no-fumadores, p.f.!) [ Buscamos también ayuda de larga estancia (o permanente!) en finca, familia, hogar, como opción distinto]. Hay alrededor mas fincas ecologicos, normalmente con wwoofers también. Muchas oportunidades para senderismo, bañandose en rio o nuestra alberca; mirando fauna y pajeros, espacio en azotea para yoga y meditación. Hablamos en inglés y castellano. Alojamiento es una caravana buena cerca de nuestra casa, con luz y agua. Organic methods: Composting, mulching, minimum intervention. Certifications: CAAE Comite Andaluz de Agricultura Ecologica.
