Finca Heidi We created now the ecological and cultural association Morada del Ser. Our aim is to run an ecological farm with a big diversity of different subtropical plants. We also plan to offer guided visits about avocado cultivation and more and culinary workshops. We have been living here in our beautiful Avocado farm (17000 m2) for 10 years, during which we have renovated the buildings. Now we are changing from the Avocado monoculture to a mixed tropical and subtropical fruit forest where one can participate as an volunteer. The minimal duration for wwoofing in our finca is five weeks. We expect you to be able to cook for 7-8 persons once a week. You have to be in good condition. We have a lot of physical work and our site is steep. So physical fitness is a prerequisite.  We don't tolerate using headphones at work. After the first week we will have a conversation and check if further cooperation is desirable. From November till April after heavy raining it sometimes happens that we can't cross the river by car for some days but by foot it´s always possible. For the next years we have different projects: - The ground has to be covered with bokashi and mulch to protect it from drying out - We always have to clean and repair our spring which supplies us with fresh springwater and we need to construct a grey water recycling system - For fertilizing we make our own fish emulsion and we produce a lot of biochar and mulch with the remains of tree-cuts - Our objective is to be mainly self sufficient so we would like to develop a bigger vegetable garden - Our product refinement is to dry fruits and create different jams, chutneys and mojos We want to share our place with you and offer accomodation and good food for working for 5 hours, 5 days per week. Once a week you help us to clean the community rooms in the afternoon, this takes about one hour. Our place is very peaceful, quiet and special, situated at the entrance of the breathtakingly spectacular Caldera de Taburiente National Park. We live about 7 km away from the next bus station and village (Los Llanos), so a driving licence can be useful, so it's possible to rent for little money a car for the weekend. By foot it takes 1.5 hours to get to los Llanos. Of course you can get out with us, when we go to town. When you arrive we pick you up at the busterminal in Los Llanos. Our electricity comes from solar panels and is limited, of course we have a washing machine and hot water. But it's important to control the consumption of water because we do not have enough water. Saving water is one of our main objectives. It's important for us that you don't use intensely perfumed care products and detergents which aren't biodegradable.  Don't forget to take with you working clothes and good shoes like hiking boots. It's better to have clothes with a dense structure of the material that won't catch too much seeds of the weeds. We make delicious icecream with our ice-machine. At home we normally speak German or English. Wwoofers trying to learn Spanish will probabely not learn Spanish at our place. A pie necesitas 1,5 h.
