The Finca Foyeta de Tur is an scenic historic Farmhouse with 65 ha of wilderness and mountains around. Some 15 ha are under cultivation. We have 550 olive-trees, some 100 almond-trees and about 50 Carob-Trees. Time of work is mostly all year round in the fields or processing the products, also mountain herbas for tea.. Our family (I am german) bought the Finca 40 years ago and we never used any pesticides. I would be happy, if enthusiastic volunteers with some experience in gardening and acriculture would help me and especially my spanish employee Carlos in the fields, depending on the season, cleaning around the trees, getting manure out, gathering the cut branches after pruning, filling olive-oil into bottles or sowing green manure as well as gathering wild herbs for the drying process. In Summer it would be harvesting almonds and carob fruits, then in october olive-harvest, and all works to maintain the Finca like cleaning the old morish channels before the rain comes and repairing old terraces and maintaining the pheromona traps in the trees. Sounds like a lot of work, but it does not has to be done at once anyway. And Carlos is there with them, I am as well. We can teach you about eco-system and local nature, animal and plant species, that are still there and how to provide breeding places and settings and food for their survival. I am not always living in Spain,but spend about half of the year at the Finca, in different parts of the year, monthwise, so the volunteers have to choose a time, when I am at the Finca, which can be done by requesting via e-mail. My goal is taking care of the valley, of the trees, the eco-system. I have a lot of biodiversity, endangered species of all kind. You can hear the pair of the biggest owl (bubo bubo) singing during mating season near the house in the rocky mountains - very awesome. The setting of the Finca is in between mountains and about 6 km away from the next town. There are modern mountain-bike available to move around. There are sometimes spanisch friends and neigbours at my place and Carlos, who is native speaking, so volunteers could practise their Spanish language. I do speak German (native), French and Spanish apart from English. The kitchen is a vegetarian one, can also be vegan. Volunteers would get an own room or share room with one other person and share the bathroom. I would prefer non-smokers. It is not allowed to smoke in and around the house (danger of fire!!!) 3 weeks stay is the maximum. Organic methods: composting and horse-manure with additional organic fertilizer scarcely; bottles with pheromons against olive-flies; bandages around stems agains caterpillars; green-manuring; sraying with Neem and soap against lices at almond-trees; leaving wild flowers at the seams of the field and nesting possibilities for predators; Certifications: about to be: 2021 in June. We are in converting-phase Current projects: The projects are depending on season and necessities of trees and land. We are seeking also helpers (perhaps with knowledge) for repairing the terrace-walls with natural stones. Internet access available
