Who are we? Here at Piu, everyone is welcome. From digital nomads, to artists, to families with children, and yes, to Wwooffers! We love to work with Wwoofers and learn from them, as well as trying to inspire them with our values and lifestyle. Our plans: So far, we’ve built and renovated the rural ruin, by ourselves and with the help of volunteers. Currently, we find ourselves in a transformation phase. We are restoring with old, gifted or found materials. With the help of permaculture principles, we try to bring life to old earth, growing our own fruits, leaves and vegetables Restoring is what we strive to do on a daily basis. Restoring the land, old wood and even people. Our facilities: Wwoofers can sleep in a cabin or a caravan. Dry toilets and (outdoor)shower can be found on the premises. Furthermore, there is a communal cooking area with dining table, what can be used around family time.. There are set times when we can offer wifi. Internet is not available all day. Share! Sharing experiences together is important to us and is one of the many things we love to do. We are trying to be as sustainable as possible whilst learning with and from each other. Visit us for a great experience and for a nice time away from the busy cities. Looking forward to meet you! Organic methods: Masia Piu: 41 acres in total with 4 hectares of organic vineyards with different types of grapes. They are used to produce white wine and cava. (not by us, the vinyards are part of our land but associates take care of them) Front garden: Implementation of permaculture principles, no use of chemicals or pesticides. Home-made organic and natural compost used in the vegatable-beds. Making of worm-tea to feed trees and vegetables. Back fields: Back fields contain irrigation system of dug up canals, compost pile & wormtea. Techniques we use to improve the soil: Vermicomposting, use of indigenous micro-organisms, green-manure, usage of biochar. General: Making of kombucha, bread, soap, ... with natural ingredients.
