La Casa del Valle, the house of the valley, because this is where we live, in an olive grove in the heart of a valley in the interiors of Valencia (this is the arrival airport), more precisely in the surroundings of Enguera. We have 5 hectares of olive and carob trees there. Full nature and spectacular views. We are looking for volunteers for the following projects/activities:
1 - The carob harvest which begins at the beginning of September: [note that in 2025 we are not looking for volunteers].
2 - The olive harvest in end of OCT / early NOV: this year we are looking for volunteers from 18. - 31. October.
3 - Permacultural garden with watering system: we would like to start a permacultural garden (vegetables and fruits) at our place including a watering system as well as improve the landscape design of our propoerty … for this we are looking for 1-2 experienced wwoofers that could provide us help/direction in circa March/April 2026 (exact dates still to be defined)
Harvesting is done the traditional way that is by hand using long sticks for the carob fruits and combs for the olives. No specific previous experience required. We will provide the appropriate guidance and support.
Our trees are not treated at all. This year it has rained a lot and the carobs are abundant. On the other hand, it was very hot when the olives were flowering and the harvest will be rather weak, alas. But we'll pick them all the same and get our oil pressed!
If you are interested in coming to help us, you will be accommodated in our beautiful guest house. It has 3 bedrooms, two of them have 2 single beds, the other a double bed. For meals, there is a kitchen in the house and you can prepare your own meals. It will also happen that we take meals together, it is at the discretion of each.
We will work every day from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. (including coffee break). Then, free time where you can recharge your batteries, walk, mountain bike or go horse riding (there is a horse riding club 7 minutes away on foot). If you are lucky, you may see a couple of eagles, wild goats, owls or miss fox.
Here is a short review of Jenna & Yannick of their stay in October 2022 with us: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02WBJPTFZS1oPGfP6XePymVEecJHNH8wqDccQ5s96BisKECEgpFpRJwXoK38C21H7wl&id=100061357467277 (Note: their wwoof account expired hence facebook)
Certifications: Just starting process for certification. In Spain that usually takes up to three years.
