WHO WE ARE.
We are a group of 4 families (3 generations): 9 adults, 5 children and a few dogs who have come together in the desire for sustainability, ecology and self-sufficiency. The Sierra de Aracena is a beautiful landscape characterized by cork oaks and olive trees, but also by drought and monoculture. We have made it our mission to help shape the region and agricultural culture in a sustainable way and to reshape it according to ecological standards. There is a great community of locals and international newcomers who live in exchange with us.
We started our project in early 2023...
WHAT WE HAVE.
In 2022 we decided to buy this piece of land, which was completely abandoned and untouched for many years.
This is both an opportunity and a challenge. Which we have made our own: This property is worth being awakened from its slumber and turned into a beautiful pearl of nature.
WHAT WE DO.
Our main focus is on making our property livable. The first steps on a more than a 1000 m2 "agro forest" area, has started from October '23. This project is supervised by our agroforest-specialist friends, who support us to change parts of the land into a sustainable agroforest. We constantly work on that. A big "huerta" (veggi / fruit garden) is also almost ready, too.
Thirdly, we work on our olive grove, cleaning it up, working and pruning it, keeping it all organic of course and getting ready for our first big harvest in autumn 2025.
To summarize, we will be working on the land, i.e., preparing different areas for a sustainable "new born" future.
If you would like to become part of this development, you are warmly invited to do so! We welcome people, who love to support our project - and want to be part of the awakening process of this amazing piece of land. Feel free to bring in your skills and knowlege and be sure that we recognize and value any kinds of support.
WHERE YOU WOULD STAY. Please note.
At the moment: You ACCOMMODATION would be best in your own TENT, in your CAMPING CAR or CARAVAN. We can offer a safe area between old olive trees directly on our property.
If you come between August and Oktober 2025 the common house would most likely be built where you could sleep as well.
We ourselves stay in yurtas on the property and some of us who still don't have a space to stay come from the village up.
Our meals are all plant-based (vegan). You will love it.
We will share lunch.
WHAT WE EXPECT
We are happy to welcome woofers who are 100% committed, always ready to go and flexible.
Note: During working time, we consistently stay offline and do not use mobile phones (except for emergencies).
A TYPICAL DAY could be like this:
8.30h breakfast
9-13 work on the land
13-14.30 rest or help preparing lunch
14.30 lunch
(NOTE THAT TIMING CHANGE IN THE SUMMER!)
In the afternoon maybe another one or two hours of work (if you like), followed by free time / leisure activities.
Later, we normally have common exchange, sometimes sit & sing together, play with the kids, go for a walk, have a coffee at the local cafe or just enjoy the view.
Our languages: English. German. Spanish. Farsi. Hindi. Bangla.... :)
The surrounding area offers opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, padel tennis, etc. Or you could try out the various urban highlights in Aracena (old city, Gruta de las maravillas etc.)
