Hi WWOOFers, I'm Mélanie (29 years old) and together with my boyfriend Edzard (31) we bought an abandoned olive farm in the mountains with two very old Spanish farm houses that we are renovating. For now we live with the two of us and our dog - if you don't count our worms(compost). Edzard is a wood worker and very handy, I work online as a mindfulness coach. We are originally from the Netherlands and moved here three years ago because we wanted to live a slower life, enjoy the sun, space, nature and improve the soil. A neighbor friend is helping us to make a permaculture design of the land. An average day could look like this: You wake up in the van that we placed on one of the most beautiful places on our land. After you had breakfast and a coffee, you help prune and process our olive trees. After a while you want a change in activity and start collecting rocks for the naturaly water filter we are building, sanding and painting the wooden beams in our house or help us making lunch. You can do something you like to do in your free time such as hiking, laying in the hammock or working online (we have surprisingly fast WiFi). Do know that we live in the middle of nowhere in nature, we are up for games, taking you with us to activities, but it also means that it's a life that is alot quieter than what most people are used to haha. In the evening we eat together and we do some board games, read or watch a movie. Other activities: - If you want to become handier or know more about how to make things with wood, Ed is a professional wood worker and a general really handy man with a lot of patience. - There are lots of different stuff that you could work on when you want. We are quite flexible. We are happy to host people that enjoy cooking and helping with simple chores around the house and we are also happy to host people that have ideas and start up projects themselves. For example starting up a permaculture vegetable garden, build an extra compost toilet or a food forest. We have a really nice van, placed on one of the most beautiful spots on our land with an amazing view of the Ebro Delta and the sea. Since recently we also have a cozy wooden shed with a two person bed on another part of our land. Inside the van there is a two person bed, electricity, a fridge and cooking facilities (though you're also welcome to use our kitchen) and heating. We are not really fixed about food, but normally we eat a warm meal together during lunch and around 8 we eat tapas (or something warm, or pizza, we love pizza haha). I'm vegetarian, Edzard is not, but since I mostly cook, most of the meals are vegetarian. There are several beautiful hikes starting at our house, Edzard really likes to do climbing and bouldering (inside and outside) and he always looks for someone to go with. Mélanie goes monthly to ecstatic dance, loves board games (Ed doesn't so if you like them please come to us :p), eating cake and reading in the sun. Furthermore, we go to exchange markets with other people that live like us, which might be interesting if you are thinking about buying a land in Spain and you want to know how other people did it. The sea is a 25 minutes drive.
