A farm with big fruit and veggie garden, some animals, almost off grid. We host guests and events.
Las Palmas
I arrived on the Gran Canaria 10 years ago with a dream to create an optimal place for people, animals and plants to live, grow and share. In 2021 bought a beautiful land in the mountains on the north of the island with an big ruin of a building and a vast abandoned for 40 years field. Started the reconstruction of the house and landscaping straight away and after 2 years of struggle, the almost off-grid house was functional and the garden was set and a lot of trees and veggies planted.
3 years ago I obtained the status of ecological farmer.
WWOOFers help me with all the works in the garden, like: planting, weeding, watering, applying eco-treatments, repairing the plant-beds, adding compost, turning the compost, mixing it, feeding the hens and rooster, feeding the dog and the cats, also our worms.
They also clean common areas, maintaining them, if they are capable, they might be asked to do small repairs in the common areas.
We might be sharing the cooking between the ones currently living on the finca, cooking the lunch for all of us.
We usually meet at 8:30 for the meeting, when we talk over the tasks of the day. At around 14 we eat lunch together. WOOFers manage their work and rest time themselves.
WOOFFers have their external kitchenette equipped with all that is needed and I provide all the food needed. Breakfast and dinner they prepare themselves and we might be sharing the cooking the lunched between the ones currently living on the finca, cooking the lunch for all of us or we might be having one person responsible for cooking every day for us (normally excluding weekends). We tend to eat lunch together around 14h.
Each WWOOFer has their single room. They use external kitchenette, dry toilet and external showers.
I like dancing (go ofter to the city to practice and I offer to go with me to the WWOOFers), swimming, cyckling, hiking, playing the guitar and sing.
