La Granja Farmhouse is an old farm located in the heart of the island of Ibiza. Since the beginning of 2025, we have started implementing a new vision for La Granja. The project focuses on expanding the farm, always rooted in regenerative methods. The goal is for the farm to become, as beautifully described in permaculture, a closed loop system. We work with a close-knit team of six people at La Granja Farmhouse, with each person having their own responsibilities within the project. With three nationalities represented in the team, there is a rich diversity of backgrounds and input that contributes to the project. Leading on the project there is the team of Kayatree, which already has the experience of hosting Wwoofers and volunteers on other projects in Europe. We have always done so with the philosophy of providing a fulfilling experience for the WWOOFers, ensuring that everyone leaves the project feeling empowered and ready to carry the knowledge of regenerative practices out into the world. Within the program, alongside the work that needs to be done, we also offer WWOOFers time for self-reflection and space to reconnect with themselves through nature. Something we have found to be deeply needed in this day and age. On the farm, we work with intensive planting beds as well as perennials such as fruit and nut trees. There are also a small number of animals live on the farm, including two horses, three goats, and dozens of chickens. All cultivation is done using regenerative practices, drawing from a variety of methods including permaculture, syntropic farming, and biodynamic agriculture. In addition, there is also an "aesthetic" garden, which we are gradually transforming to have not only visual appeal but also productive value. In this process, we are replacing certain plants and flowers with alternatives that contribute to the farm’s overall production. A day on the farm begins with caring for the animals, followed by work in the productive systems of the garden. The tasks vary depending on the season and can include soil preparation, planting, harvesting, transplanting, weeding, mulching, and setting up irrigation. There are also general maintenance tasks to keep the farm tidy — such as cleaning up around the farm pergola, weeding the pathways, repairing stone walls, pruning, and mowing the surrounding areas. Watering potted plants around the main house is also part of the daily routine. In addition, there are ongoing and new projects, such as building a new pergola, optimizing the compost system, and creating new garden beds. Overarching the daily work, several major projects are planned within the broader scope of the farm. These include expanding the intensive production garden, selectively clearing parts of the forest to make space for a syntropic farming system, implementing composting toilets, and developing a compost system that integrates the animals into the nutrient cycle. Throughout all these tasks and projects, we aim to involve the WWOOFers in the philosophy behind the project and introduce them to the regenerative methods we apply. WWOOFers are invited to prepare their own breakfast and dinner in a shared outdoor kitchen nestled in nature , a peaceful space to cook, connect, and unwind. On weekdays, a wholesome, farm-prepared lunch is shared with the entire team. Accommodation is provided in two spacious safari tents (25m² each), set on raised wooden platforms in the heart of the forest, offering a simple yet comfortable stay, fully immersed in nature. Each tent is shared by two people, with separate private compartments for sleeping. The tents also include a cozy shared living area and a generous outdoor deck, perfect for relaxing or enjoying quiet moments surrounded by trees. Nearby, you’ll find a rustic outdoor kitchen, a compost toilet, and an open-air shower, all designed to support a grounded, off-grid lifestyle. During their free time, WWOOFers will find plenty to explore on the island. The beach is just a 15-minute drive away, perfect for a refreshing swim or a day in the sun. You can dive into ecstatic dance sessions, wander through the historic old town, or hike along peaceful forest trails. There is always something going on...
