Organic Mango Finca
Santa Cruz de Tenerife
***WE ARE FULLY BOOKED UNTIL BEGINNING OF MAY***
👋 ABOUT US
Hi, my name is Benjamin. Since July 2022, I have been renting a Mango Finca on the island of La Palma. One of the two hectares is cultivated with mango trees.
🔨 THE PROJECT
With the help of WWOOF, we have started to bring the finca into a new era. We started with one person, and now up to 17 people can live here and form a community. Our goal is to help the finca grow into a creative, individual place based on self-sufficiency and permaculture. We value living mindfully - with respect for this place, for each other, and with an openness to personal and collective growth in awareness.
In the meantime, specific workgroups have been formed, such as the Kitchen, Garden, Building, and Social Media teams. These groups take responsibility for their areas and maintain and improve them. We are looking for people who would like to stay at least 2 weeks with us.
🖊️ A LITTLE MORE
Rolf, the owner, lives on the finca and is very interested in medicinal plants and growing plants from seeds. He loves to share his knowledge with anyone who is interested.
I have worked for five years as a hiking guide on La Palma, I can also give you great recommendations for places to visit. Due to the size of the finca, you will always find a peaceful spot to enjoy tranquility and space for yourself if you wish.
🤝 WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR WWOOFERS
We ask our wwoofers to join us in a mindful and respectful way of living - towards the land, the people, and the shared space. This includes taking personal responsibility for keeping both private and communal areas clean and cared for. We appreciate when this attention to the space arises naturally, from a place of awareness and respect. Open communication, a warm heart, and a genuine interest in conscious living are important to us - and if you feel inspired to contribute with both hands and presence, you are very welcome here.
⛺ OFFERED ACCOMMODATION
• 3 ROOMS
We have converted the room above the garages into three small bedrooms with a hallway in front. This allows us to offer you your own room and privacy. The rooms are furnished with a double bed, a single bed, and a sofa bed.
• TENT SIDES
We have created some nice tent spots. For more information, check out our Instagram highlights.
• VEHICLES
We also have a CAMPER VAN (Hyundai H1), an RV, and THE WHITE BUS (which is still waiting to be converted into a camper), available as accommodation.
📸 You can find photos of each accommodation on our Instagram highlights.
🥕 OUR WAY OF EATING
We offer 3 shared meals and serve vegan/vegetarian food. Meat eaters are welcome to join us and are invited to try a different diet. If you choose to cook separately or have extra snacks, please make sure to buy your own ingredients for that.
• BREAKFAST
08:00 - 08:50: The day always starts with a shared breakfast, which includes coffee, tea, plant-based milk, porridge, gofio, mango puree, and fruits.
• LUNCH
13:00 - 14:00: Lunch is always prepared by the kitchen team, which is responsible for the meals for the week. At 1 p.m., the food is ready, and we gather around the table to enjoy it together. We try to handle food consciously and sustainably.
• DINNER
19:30: In the evening, we usually serve leftovers from lunch. Additionally, we provide bread, cheese, homemade hummus, and salad for a nice dinner.
⌛ OUR WORKING DAY LOOKS LIKE
A workday at the finca begins at 9 a.m. At 8:50 a.m. we gather together to discuss the day's plan. The workday consists of 4 hours and therefore ends at 1 p.m. The work includes a mix of individual team tasks, seasonal activities, and ongoing projects. The tasks are mainly physical and involve working in the garden, on the mango trees, or on other projects.
🧹 CLEANING
Cleaning is a shared responsibility and an important part of our daily life here. After lunch, everyone draws a small cleaning task from a basket (one of them is preparing the dinner so also this task is switching). In the evenings, we have a simple cleaning schedule: one or two people (dependent on the group size) are assigned a day (noted on the whiteboard) to take care of the evening clean-up -- this includes checking and emptying bins, replacing bags, wiping surfaces, sweeping the floor. These tasks happen outside of the official working hours (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.). In general, everyone is expected to wash, dry, and put away their own dishes right after using them. If something is accidentally left behind, we ask the evening team to take care of putting it away.

We use a compost toilet, so it’s important to separate urine from solid waste. Urination should be done outside, near the trees, and paper should be disposed of in the trash.
• SHOWER
Our showers are beautiful hidden outdoor spaces. It only uses cold water, but since the pipes run under the sun, you can often enjoy pleasantly warm water on sunny days.
• LAUNDRY
We have a washing machine which is available for volunteers from 1pm to 8pm every day. To cover the costs of water and electricity we charge 1€ per washing. Also we make our own laundry detergent out of ivy leaves which can be used.
Further we have a selection of old clothes available for everyone to use as workwear. If you wear any of these, please make sure to wash them, hang them up to dry, take them down, fold them, and put them back in their place. Therefore every accommodation has its own little laundry place.
🌐 INTERNET
Internet is available most of the day.
🌴 FINCA LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS
The finca is located about 150 meters above sea level, in a semi-abandoned area near the small barrio of San Simón.
• VOLCANO
A small volcano nearby offers stunning views towards the sunrise and the southern/eastern part of La Palma. It’s just an 8-minute walk uphill.
• BEACHES / SWIMMING / OCEAN
The coast is a 20-minute walk downhill. There are small beaches and access points to the ocean further along the coast, including some areas with stairs that lead to the water. The beaches are sometimes stony, but in summer, the currents bring sand, making them enjoyable at the right time of year.
