English:
Historic masía in the Montseny Natural Park, one hour from Barcelona. Regenerative agriculture, syntropic agroforestry and community life.
UPDATE: For autumn/winter, we are looking to build a team of up to four WWOOFers, each bringing solid experience in one of these areas: a) regenerative agriculture, b) farm infrastructure (irrigation, drainage, fencing, paths, carpentry, repairs and outdoor workspaces), c) pottery and wood-firing, or d) cooking and communal meal planning. We ask for a minimum stay of one month, ideally two to three, and previous volunteering experience. Unfortunately, we cannot host complete beginners or stays of less than one month.
A growing regenerative and creative project in the Montseny Natural Park, about an hour from Barcelona by car or bus (used to be train, but not so reliable these days!). At around 800m, the climate is fairly different from the coast: colder winters, gentler summers, a lot more green. We're deep in a forest of oaks and pines, between El Brull and Aiguafreda.
We've restored an old Catalan masía while building a living ecosystem around it: regenerative agriculture, syntropic agroforestry and wood-fired ceramics are our pillars. Every day is about craft, the growing farm, shared meals, community life and slow but meaningful ways of building. This is not a retreat center or a polished eco-hotel, but an active development, still taking shape, where things are constantly built, repaired, planted, fired, cooked, moved and reimagined.
Some days we work in the gardens or food forest, planting and harvesting. Some days we build irrigation lines, mulch beds, or organize spaces. Some days there are ceramic firings, workshops, or long conversations around the fire. The rhythm follows the season and what the land needs.
We share our space with dogs (4), chickens (11 for now), trees (thousands), and friends who stop by. The property is large, full of surprises, and constantly evolving.
On the farm side we have an ever-changing set of spaces needing constant attention:
- A vegetable patch with ~14 beds of 6-8m
- A small greenhouse with 4 beds for seedlings
- A syntropic agroforestry system (SAF) with 6 beds of 22m
- A second SAF in progress with 8 beds
- A young apple orchard of ~60 trees, planted this spring
- Mushroom cultivation on the roadmap for 2026/27
We're an Argentine couple who lived in the US, UK and Spain before settling here:
Magali is a potter running workshops from her studio, specializing in Japanese-style wood-firing.
Mariano works remotely as a freelance consultant, and spends the rest of his time on regenerative farming, agroforestry, and building tools and ideas for the land.
We want people who enjoy tinkering, learning and teaching by doing: wood and metal workers, engineers, carpenters, farmers, craftspeople. People inspired by collective projects, who get that beautiful places need care, attention and physical work. If this resonates, it could be your place. We're still evolving, and the people who come become part of that.
What we offer:
- A room in the farmhouse (private or shared based on availability) with hot showers, electricity, bedding, towels and Wi-Fi
- Shared meals cooked together, mostly local and seasonal, increasingly from our garden
- Hands-on learning in regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, composting, irrigation, animal care and homestead maintenance
- Optional access to the pottery studio to try clay and wood-firing
- A real cultural exchange in a small, informal, evolving project
- A beautiful corner of the Montseny to explore on foot, by bike, or climbing
What we ask:
- 5 hours a day, 5 days a week: we start around 8.30 and work through the morning on the farm and land
- A minimum stay of one month, ideally 2 to 3
- Proven hands-on experience in at least one of our four priority areas, and a willingness to share that knowledge with the group
- Pitching in with communal life: cooking, cleaning shared spaces, animals on rotation
- Respect for the rhythm of the place, the people, and the animals
A few honest notes:
- We're not vegan or vegetarian: we eat meat, eggs, dairy and fish, mostly local. We can sometimes accommodate other diets, but strict vegans cook for themselves.
- 4 dogs and 11 chickens, so animal lovers will feel at home.
- It's off-grid in feel. If you need constant city access or nightlife, it's not the right fit.
- Bring some experience, and this shouldn’t be your first volunteer stint: we're new at this and want to learn from the best ideas you've seen.
- We share lunch, sometimes dinner.
- We have 5 comfortable rooms for 2 people each in the beautiful old Masia, so sometimes they're shared.
